27 January 2005, MEXICO – Huatulco has achieved the prestigious Green Globe Benchmarked Certificate under the new Green Globe Certification program, which recognizes the operation’s commitment to operating at the world’s highest environmental standard.

Huatulco has spent considerable time benchmarking its energy and water consumption, waste production and disposal as well as implementing an integrated environmental and social policy. In particular it has achieved Best Practice results in Potable Water Consumption, Solid Waste Production, Resource Conservation (Paper consumed), Resource Conservation (Biodegradable pesticides) and Biodiversity. These measures will deliver ongoing reduction of non-renewable resources, extensive cost savings and secure a sustainable commercial and ecological future for the Destination.

About Huatulco
Huatulco is located on the Southern Pacific coast of Mexico, in the state of Oaxaca, with 35 kms (aprox. 20 miles) of coastline conformed of the nine bays with 36 beaches with clear and brilliant waters, on a total of 21 hectares, of which 16,400 are earmarked for the regeneration and preservation of the ecological balance, being a vital part of this project the Huatulco Wildlife and Marine Park, declared a National Protected Area in 1998.


The Bays of Huatulco are located 277 kms south of Oaxaca, the state capital, and only a 50 minutes flight from Mexico City, and offers also access by road and sea.
